Born to Raymond and Alice Myrvik on Oct. 9, 1940 in Marshall, MN, Dee grew up in Minneota and started her schooling in a one-room schoolhouse and graduated from Minneota High School in 1958.
She attended Mankato State College, where she met her first husband Layton Zimmerman, and they married in 1961. They moved around quite a bit early in their marriage but settled down in Monticello, MN in 1975. They have four children: Deb (Dale), Barb, Lee and Dawne, five grandchildren: Jason, Nikki, Danielle, Connor and Riley, nine great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
In 2000, Dee married Norm Berg. They shared a love of travel and family and with other interests it kept them busy for over 20 years. Norm added to Dee’s extended family with three children: Ron (Kathy), Cheryl (Brad) and Rich (Trina) who added another six grandchildren: Andrea, Derek, Jenny, Jolie, Isabel and Ahnika, and six great grandchildren.
She volunteered at Ronald McDonald House, which combined voluntarism with her love of small children and babies. Norm shared her passion to volunteer and together they spent much of their time helping others.
Her smile is legendary. Dee is a very special person who never met a stranger, her kindness and generosity were known to all who met her, and she positively touched the lives of many.
