United Way campaign underway

The United Way of Southwest Minnesota has begun it’s new fund-raising campaign. This year the goal is to collect $625,000 for help operate programs throughout the region.

Officials report that $131,785.32 in donations and pledges have been recorded to date during the annual fund-raising campaign.

This equates to 21 percent of the goal. Over the last five years, United Way of Southwest Minnesota has re-invested more than $2.3 million locally to benefit the lives of friends and neighbors. “We win when we LIVE UNITED.

Because of your help, we’re forging new partnerships and addressing the most important issues our community faces,” said United Way Director Marcy Heemeyer.

“Right now, more than 48,600 local people are being served through United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) initiatives, community partner programs and partnership,” she added.

By giving to United Way your joining the fight for the health, education and financial stability of everyone in southwest Minnesota.

A donation to UWSWMN will go to work to improve the lives of people living in the following school districts in MN: Canby, Clarkfield, Dawson/Boyd, Echo, Fulda, Hendricks, Ivanhoe, Lake Benton, Lakeview, Lynd, Marshall, Milroy, Minneota, Murray County Central, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, Tracy Area, Westbrook-Walnut Grove and Yellow Medicine East (public, private and charter).
