St. Edward School Happenings
Mrs. Bot - Library
All students were able to make it to the library last week! With make-up Catholic Schools Week activities, this was an accomplishment! Mrs. Bot is in the process of asking for student input into what new books to order for the library. This includes new football team books using our Scholastic Book Fair rewards. The students got to vote for which of the teams they would like to see added to the library. Mrs. Bot appreciated the help! In storytime this week, we will begin our study of the different genre of books a library has to offer. Mrs. Bot tries to do this at least every other year. These students enjoyed hearing back from the author, David LaRochelle. Unfortunately, their prediction about him writing another book similar to the one we read was incorrect. David did challenge them to write their own story. February is, “I Love To Read” month. Reading with your child is truly one of the best things you can do for them!! If I had it to do all over again, I would still choose to invest time and money on books and reading! You can’t go wrong!
Music-Mrs. Rybinski
Seventh/Eighth grade students are working on their Music History presentation. Each student is assigned a composer or era and will present the information back to the class, along with samples of the relevant music. Second to sixth grades will be concentrating on reading notes, understanding note values and rhythm and learning to play various instruments in the process. We will also continue with learning different dances and some “rock’n roll”. Kindergarten and first grade are clapping and dancing with “Pease Porridge Hot.”
