THE CHIEF'S VIEW

VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

Sadly, vehicle collisions occur and knowing what to do when one does happen is important.
The most important thing to do is focus on safety. Don’t get out of your vehicle and stand near the roadway unless the vehicle is on fire. Immediately call 911 and follow their instructions. If you do get out of the vehicle, be very careful and stay a safe distance away from any vehicle that is burning or leaking fuel.
Remember that it is possible you could be injured and don’t feel it because of adrenaline. If you are safe and unhurt, check on your passengers and ask about those in the other vehicle.
If you called 911, emergency services are coming and the best thing you can do is remain calm and not make a bad situation worse.
