TRUNK OR TREAT TO BE HELD ON OCT. 28

The sixth annual Trunk or Treat sponsored by the St. Edward’s P.E.A.C.E. committee will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28 in the parking lot behind St. Edward School in Minneota.
The event will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. this year.
Over 200 kids from Minneota and neighboring towns have enjoyed donning a costume and receiving treats from those participating.
“We have had great turnouts in the past and we are thankful for all those that come and participate in the event,” said Nikki Traen, one of the Trunk or Treat coordinators. “It is great to see all the fun costumes and ideas that people come up with for the trunk decorating.”
A $25 gift certificate to a local business will be awarded for the Best Decorated Trunk this year. The children and parents can vote on which trunk they like the best. Since there are so many children coming out each year, more trunks are needed. Those planning to decorate a trunk or area to pass out treats can begin setting up at 10 a.m. or earlier. There is no fee to participate.
“As always, we are looking for individuals to do trunks at this event,” said Traen. “This wouldn’t be possible without decorated trunks.”
Trunk or Treat originated in the United States several years ago as a way to make Trick-or-Treating safer for children and easier for working parents.
“We enjoy doing this for the community to get individuals out and about to socialize, and for out-of-towners to hand out treats that may not get the opportunity to do if they live in the country.”
