STATE VETERANS CEMETERY TO OPEN SOON IN REDWOOD FALLS
The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) announced that construction on the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery – Redwood Falls is expected to be completed this summer with a dedication event scheduled for Saturday, August 19 at 2 p.m.
This will be Minnesota’s fourth State Veterans Cemetery in addition to the cemeteries in Little Falls, Preston, and Duluth. The Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery – Redwood Falls will serve approximately 22,000 veterans and eligible family members who reside in the area. Future phases of gravesite development will occur as additional gravesites are required.
"Our State Veteran Cemeteries are lasting tributes to Minnesota veterans’ service and sacrifice," said Senator Gary Dahms (R-Redwood Falls). "I am so grateful to the collaborative and bipartisan efforts that made the long-awaited State Veterans Cemetery in Redwood Falls a reality."
There are differences in eligibility between federal veterans’ cemeteries (Fort Snelling) and state-run cemeteries operated by MDVA.
