A SIGN OF THE TIMES

NEW DIGITAL BOARD IN PLACE AT VETERANS PARK

One of the most impressive small-town military parks in southern Minnesota has an even better look after the installation of a new digital message board on the northwest corner of Jefferson and First Streets, replacing the former wooden message sign.
The digital board was fully paid for by the American Legion and funds from the now-disbanded Minneota Rotary Club, which had raised money for the project while they were still an operating organization.
The City Office has the software for the digital board and City Clerk Chesney Panka updates the messages each day.
“We have not had any issues with the sign or software. At this point, the sign is not going to be used for any sort of business advertising,” said City Administrator Shirley Teigland. “Only things such as bloodmobile, events at the library, city announcements, holiday messages or other community events.”
Several local veterans and volunteers dug the footings and cemented the sign in place recently.
