Speaking to those in attendance after receiving the award, Fier said “It’s an honor to continue to work with  veterans.” Fier is a retired 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force.These two kids seem to be telling one another to “hold on tight” as they enjoy a ride on the carousel at the fair on Saturday.Rita Engels of Ghent received first place at the fair for her cactus plant.Denny Rafson of Marshall is congratulated by emcee Jaen Weilage after he was chosen as one of the Outstanding Senior Citizens of Lyon County. Rafson, a retired electrician, has been a longtime member of the Marshall Mason’s Club, a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, and a longtime volunteer with the Lyon County Historical Museum. Angie Coudron was the other recipient of the 2023 Outstanding Senior Citizen. She was unable to attend the ceremony.A large number of participants at the Rolle Bolle tournament during the Lyon County Fair enjoyed playing on a sun-splashed day.
