The No.1 green at Countryside Golf Club was damaged in a large area by one or more individuals last week.

Countryside golf course damaged

No. 1 green tore up in several spots

Extensive damage was done to a green at Countryside Golf Club late Monday night of July 3 or early Tuesday morning of July 4.
The Minneota Police Department has no leads at this time.
It appears a vehicle stopped along the side of the Golf Course Road next to the green on the first hole on the east side of the course. One or more individuals caused 19 divots, 14 deep holes with the flag stick, and 19 deep gouges to the green with what appeared to be made by slamming a golf iron into the ground.
Brandon Hennen, the head groundskeeper at Countryside Golf Club, spent several hours repairing the green. He changed the pin placement from the damaged area to the east side of the green, so golfers could continue to play.
Hennen then repaired the divots and holes made by the flagstick with a smaller hole cutter and a divot tool. The deep gouges were repaired with a hex plugger in which he removed the damaged area and replaced it with new dirt, sand and sod, much like how a pin placement is performed.
The incident angered many golfers at Countryside Golf Club, especially with the popular 57th annual Wynston Boe Open scheduled for next weekend.
If anyone has any information about the damage to the golf course property, contact the Minneota Police Department at 507-872-5458.
