Off and running

A deer speeds along a snow-covered field in the area recently. The high winds we are experiencing lately are hard on the deer as it steals their body heat. In that case, they will gather in stands of evergreens that block wind and trap a little heat with their ceilings of branches. Swamps and marshes, which are on bottoms, also offer wind breaks for the deer.
