‘Flurry of Fun’ slated for Feb. 3 at Legion

The annual “Flurry of Fun” event will be held at the American Legion on Saturday, Feb. 3.
The event is a fundraiser for the St. Edward’s Religious Program and draws hundreds of people each year for fun, food and entertainment, all for a good cause.
The doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
The silent auction portion of this event begins on Jan. 29 and runs until Feb. 3. To bid, visit https://flurryoffun2024.givesmart.com. Those attending the night of the event will be able to view the various auction items.
Regnier Auction Company will be running the live auction. The live auction is almost as fun to watch as it is to participate with winning bids far exceeding the value of the item. Those bidding are urged by the audience to keep bidding higher, knowing the proceeds go for a good cause. As an example, some of the St. Edward Pie Ladies saw their donated pies go for over $100 last year.
Some of the items donated so far for the live auction are Hefty soybeans and corn, Rob-See-Co soybeans, meat bundles (chicken, pork and beef), and tumblers with various items inside.
“As always, the items will not be revealed until after the purchase of the tumbler, so it’s always a surprise,” said Nikki Traen, who is again coordinating the event with Chassidy DeRoode, Julie Pohlen and Laura Hennen.
The St. Edward’s Pie Ladies are again donating pies for the auction, Traen said.
“The main highlight is the St. Edward class projects for the live auction,” she said. “Each grade does a class project that is auctioned off. ”Some of the other items up for auction will be a Duluth get-away, St. Paul Saints tickets, Sioux Falls Canaries tickets, Sioux Falls Stampede hockey tickets, ski-tubing passes to Great Bear Ski Valley in Sioux Falls, Mall of America passes to Nickelodeon Universe, Crayola Experience, and Moose Mountain.
“For the past three years we have passed a purse around the night of the event,” Traen said. “We encourage those attending to fill the purse with goodies. One year we had a piggy bank filled with coins added, as well as bottles of wine, liquor, lottery tickets, cash, gift cards and various other goodies. We will then auction this off at the end of the event and whoever is the highest bidder takes home the purse and the goodies inside.”
The meal will be catered by The Hitching Post in Marshall. The meal will consist of BBQ ribs, chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, coleslaw and a dinner roll.
Tickets for the meal are $50 per person and are on sale at the St. Edward School or Church Rectory, as well as Brad’s Market and Gislason’s Ace Hardware. gold Table Sponsorship and Reserved Tables are available.
