‘Battle of the Bulbs’ draws 19 participants
The “Battle of the Bulbs” registrations are all in for the fourth annual Christmas Lighting Contest and judging begins on Friday, Dec. 15 and Saturday, Dec. 16.
We have 12 judges lined up this year again. Each of the 19 residences in this year’s contest will be judged on originality, neatness, and use of available space.
Those registering must live within a 10-mile radius (as the crow flies) of the Mascot, including the cities of Ghent and Taunton.
First place will receive $500 worth of prizes, while second place receives $250 in prizes, and third place is worth $100 in prizes.
Local businesses and individuals donate the prizes, which include holiday decor, household items, tools, food, gift cards, monetary gifts, and more. Cash donations are used to buy various prizes or gift cards from local merchants.
Any money left over will be used in random drawings for hams and turkeys. After the three winners are announced, the names of the remaining participants will be thrown into a hat and winners drawn. Last year, there were four drawing winners.
Winners will be notified on Monday, Dec. 18 by phone or email. Prizes can be picked up at the Mascot office on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Winners will be announced to the public in the Thursday, Dec. 21 Mascot.
