Fire Prevention
This week (Oct. 10-14) is Fire Prevention Week, although to many it comes and goes with little notice.
Fall is upon us and we can begin to enjoy the change of colors in the trees. This also means that the leaves will start falling and need to get picked up. A few friendly reminders:
Police work has changed greatly since I became an officer over 23 years ago and I believe that the majority of changes have not been good. When I was a new officer, I was idealistic and eager.
The Minneota Public Library will soon start its Winter Story Hour program. This is a story hour for kids ages 3-10 and will be held every third Saturday of the month at 10:30 a.m.
The inaugural Mascot Pumpkin Carving Contest has begun.
This contest is free and open to anyone in Minneota, Ghent, Taunton, St. Leo or Porter.
I have always enjoyed Halloween and look forward to seeing all the various displays in people's yards, although the number of those decorating has significantly decreased over the years.
