Minnesota sports had a great Border Battle weekend! Both the Gophers and Vikings defeated their Wisconsin foes. I don’t follow the Gophers, but I did enjoy the Viking victory.

If you thought watching the Vikings defeat the Packers on T.V. was fun, you should have been there. And I actually was. Long story short, one of my Packers fan friends has always wanted to see them play in person and a whim last week, we purchased tickets.

From the moment we got on the train to U.S. Bank Stadium, the feeling was electric. There were fans of both teams on the train and everyone was just having a good time.

Of course, there was a lot of friendly back and forth banter, but it was all in good fun. My friend had never been to the stadium but I’ve been there twice before.

But, I think every time you walk in, it’s just such an impressive building and atmosphere it kind of takes your breath away. The worst part of the night, was getting into the stadium. There were so many people trying to get in and it was so cold.

It was an impressive sea of purple and green. It was really neat because some of the people that were in line near us actually had ties to people we each knew. Such a small world, right? There were many highlights of the game like the U.S. Men’s Olympic Gold Medal team led the Skol chant before the game.

They are all from Minnesota and Wisconsin and are fans of both teams, so that was a really neat way to start the game.

3M handed out these neat little purple sheets that you placed over the flashlight of your phone. When your light was on, it shined purple. There were a few times during the game that the whole stadium was covered in purple. It was really, really cool. During halftime, Randy Moss received his Hall of Fame ring and gave a nice speech and razzed the Packers fans a bit.

So did John Randle. “Sorry Packers fans, but I don’t really like you,” said Randle. The actual game itself was exciting! Our team played well and sometime in the third quarter, Packers fans just wanted to fire their coach and start fresh next season.

They banded together, it was nice. U.S. Bank Stadium really is as loud as it sounds on the radio and T.V.

It was such a blast and the “better state” shined. Skol!
