75 Years Ago-May 5, 1944

Thanghe-Curwick

Miss Eileen Curwick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Curwick, and Edward Thanghe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alois Thanghe of Ghent, were married Thursday, April 27, at the St. Eloi Catholic church, Ghent.

Personals

Fire, which broke out on the second floor of the Fred Amundson home last Thursday, ruined a great deal of clothing and did considerable damage to the interior of the house.

50 Years Ago-May 8, 1969

Named to Sioux Council Board

Ralph Larson, local superintendent of schools, has been named to the executive board of the Sioux Council of the Boy Scouts of America with headquarters in Sioux Falls.

Minneotans receive four ‘A’ ratings

Four out of seven entries in the state-regional music contest from Minneota high school won top honors. Receiving this “A” in the state-regional is the highest honor a high school musician can attain in Minnesota. Kevin Anderson won on his tenor saxophone; Janet Christianson scored with a solo; Craig Jackson on his alto saxophone and Mary Rokeh and Carolyn Rye in a vocal duet.

Hovland-Jensen

Arlyss Jean Jensen and Lennis Dale Hovland were united in marriage at Hope Lutheran church, March first at four o’clock in the afternoon. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. John V. Jensen and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hovland of Minneota.

Ozmun-Zwach

Miss Judy M. Zwach of Marshall and Dennis L. Ozmun of Marshall were united in marriage at St. Michael’s Catholic church at Milroy on April 19. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zwach of Walnut Grove and Mr. and Mrs. Julian Gislason of Minneota.

Act selected for Windom show

Sharon Buysse of the Westerheim 4-H club, with her acrobatic act, “Get in Shape”, was selected at the county share-the-fun festival at Marshall to present her act at the district festival at Windom in July.

25 Years Ago-May 4, 1994

Marketing students work on survey

Part of Mr. VanVooren’s marketing class worked on the survey that will be used to secure opinions on the upcoming Boxelder Bug Days celebration. They are Justin Thostenson, Paul Smith, Carrie Pohlen, Brad Laleman and Chad Hennen.

Graveling is his business

Sandy and Ardeen Tolk stand by one of his International trucks that is used in the graveling business. The local couple is celebrating 25 years of business in this community and big trucks play an important part in the success of the venture.

Preparing for California trip

Laurel Hasert will be jetting to California on Friday to take part in the National Business Professionals of America contest. She is a student at Southwestern Technical Institute, Canby Campus, and earned the right to advance through a team competition. She is the wife of Earl Hasert of this community, and a student in the Accounting field at the STI.

“Camp-In” Minneota Junior Girl Scouts posed with “Iggy” the Iguana in front of the Science Museum of Minnesota in St. Paul on April 24 following their weekend Museum “Camp-In”. They are Cheryl Schmitz, Tamara Tolk, Anna Hagen, Anna Murray, Bridget Breyfogle, Heather Prinsen, Melissa Breyfogle, Katie Blegen, Joyce DeSmet, Tessa Tolk, Jessica Koppien, Nicole Neisuis, Aulaire Schmitz, and Lindsey Stiklestad.
