Gifts in a Jar for Kids

I thought it was time again to look into my “Gifts in a Jar” recipe book.

Then I thought, wouldn’t this be a great gift for kids to make and give for a silent auction at a benefit or other function raising money? What a way for kids to donate and make a difference.

Play Dough Mix

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup salt

2 tablespoons cream of tartar

2 packages of Kool-Aid (leave in packaging)

Layer the ingredients in the order given into a wide-mouth 1-quart canning jar.

Pack each layer in place before adding the next ingredient.

Attach a gift tag with the mixing directions as follows:

1 jar Play Dough Mix

2 cups water

2 tablespoons baby oil

Remove Kool-Aid packages from jar.

Mix water, baby oil and Kool-Aid together in a large microwave safe container.

Add Play Dough Mix and stir until well blended.

Microwave on high for a total of approximately 4 to 5 minutes, stopping every 30 to 45 seconds to stir.

Continue to microwave and stir until a ball forms.

After the play dough is cool enough to touch, you’re ready to play!
