Cherri's Kitchen

I have been thinking about Friendship Bread lately, since it is close to Thanksgiving and we should all be thankful for friends.
(DO NOT use metal bowls, spoons or any kind of metal object when preparing or baking Friendship Bread).
Friendship Bread
Use 1 cup of sour dough starter to start, recipe as follows:
- 1 package yeast
- 2 cups warm water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 cups flour In large jar, crockery pot, plastic bowl dissolve yeast and water.
Don’t use metal bowl or any metal objects. Add flour, beat until smooth. Cover and let stand at room temperature.
(This is when I transfer to a 1 gallon plastic storage bag. Easier to mix.) Let set 48 hours. Makes 2 cups of starter. Use 1 cup for starter to begin again.
Friendship Bread continued... On days 1, 2, 3 and 4 leave on counter and stir daily (mash bag). If there is air in bag open and let air out.
On day 5, add these ingredients and mix thoroughly (mash bag):
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup flour
On days 6, 7, 8, and 9 stir daily (mash bag and let air out).
On day 10 add:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup flour
Stir until smooth. Take out 3 cups. Leave 1 cup for yourself for a starter. Give 1 cup each to 2 friends. Add remaining cup to the recipe.
I will give you the rest of the recipe next week....
