Byron "Lin" Rafnson
Byron ("Lin") Rafnson passed away on Jan. 16, 2021 at the age of 77. Byron was born in Minneota, MN in 1943 to Byron and Louise ("Babe") Rafnson. Byron graduated from Minneota High School on 1961 and attended St. Cloud State University. After attending college, he enlisted in the United States Navy from 1962-1965 and served on the USS Coontz (DLG-9) where he was a Boiler Operator and was proud to the Oil King.
After serving in the Navy, Byron moved to California and worked in various sales jobs. He later became a realtor, moved to Hesperia, California, and opened Shadow Mountain Investments.
Byron's pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Phillips, daughter Stephanie Rafnson McKinnie (Robert), stepsons John Phillip (Rodrigo) and Jeffrey Phillips (Amanda). Byron had two grandchildren, Andrew Phillips and Jenna Phillips, and numerous nieces and nephews. Byron is also survived by two brothers, Leon and Philip, and three sisters, Arlene DePestel, Marilyn Lee, and Carol Lozinski (Tom).
Byron is preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Babe Rafnson, brother Larry Rafnson, and sister-in-laws Rosalyn Rafnson and Kathy Rafnson, and brother-in-laws Cy DePestel and Lowell Lee.
Byron enjoyed the beach, golfing with his friends and traveling with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Byron will be interned at the Riverside National Cemetery in a private ceremony. Due to COVID, a celebration of life will be held later this year in Minneota (date and time to be determined).
