St. Edward School Happenings

Mrs. Lois Spanton
Music: The Fourth and Fifth graders have finished up their recorder unit and are looking forward to textbooks & concert songs. The Second and Third graders created great melodies to go along with a “Jelly in the Dish” rhythm pattern that includes 16th notes. The Kindergarten and 1st graders continue to impress me with how quickly they’ve picked up on some simple melody and rhythm note reading skills.
Art: Our theme in art is weaving! We all finished some simple paper weaving placemats as a “warm-up” activity. The Seventh graders are doing some traditional weaving on cardboard looms that they set up by themselves. Grades 2-6 are working on some CD weavings, while K/1 students are tackling a rainbow paper plate weaving project.
