New Lyon County Sheriff Eric Wallen will be sworn into office on Friday, December 28 so he can take over the office by the first of the year.
What began as a four-candidate race has been whittled down to just one person. Jim Marshall took the job as head of the police department in Marshall and Wallen was alone in the race.
When Jim Marshall filed for candidacy for sheriff, the position of City of Marshall Director of Public Safety was not available.
The August 14 primary election will find four candidates running for Lyon County Sheriff. Two will survive to run in the November general election.
