Five newcomers competed for Minneota on Saturday and all five earned their first varsity win as the Vikings finished second among 10 teams at the St. James Paul Krueger Classic.
Tate Peterson dropped in six 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 21 points as Minneota dominated Yellow Medicine East 79-39 on Monday night in Granite Falls.
Minneota overcame 42 turnovers and handed Russell-Tyler-Ruthton its first loss of the season with a 56-48 victory Monday night in Minneota.

Chad Johnston of Class A state champion Minneota was named the North Division Football Coach of the Year in the South District/West Sub-District.
With 16 returning letterwinners back, Minneota coaches are optimistic that another solid season is on the horizon.
Minneota is coming off a perfect 17-0 mark in the Camden Conference and was 27-4 overall and reached the Section 3A final, but the Vikings return just one starter from that team.
