Morgan Hennen went high along with a teammate to block a hit by RCW's Avery Elfering.

Without Sussner, Vikings still roll

Senior hitter Lydia Sussner sat on the Minneota bench for the entire three-game set Thursday night against Renville County West.

"She was a little banged up," said Coach Hayley Fruin.

Instead, Abby Hennen took over her middle hitting duties, Ellie Pesch went to Libero and the team didn't seem phased by Sussner's absence.

They beat RCW 25-9; 25-7 and 25-11.

"She got it in the Canby game," explained the coach. Sussner doctors a little with a shoulder problem and seemed to be dinged up on her arm as well.

So the safe bet was to old her out as Minneota rolled to a 20-1 record with the 3-0 sweep that made them 8-0 in the Camden Conference.

With Sussner on the bench, Natalee Rolbiecki took voer at the net with 15 kills — eight of them coming in the first set. Lizzy Gillingham added 12 kills and Abby Hennen nine.

Gillingham served the final eight points of the first game and ended with 18 of 19 serves. Sydney Larson and setter Morgan Kockelman each landed three kills each in the second game as Abby Hennen served eight straight points..

Game found Rolbiecki and Gillingham teaming at the net with Rolbiecki getting five kills and Gillingham six.
