Winter sports season kicks off this week

Wrestlers host triangular Thursday; attendance limited to 25 percent of gym capacity

After months of having no sporting events in Minneota, starting on Thursday, Jan. 14, there will be six events over the next six days.
For the time being, there will be only two spectators allowed per participant with a maximum of 150 fans, or 25 percent capacity, whichever is smaller. Each gymnasium will vary slightly because of the capacity percentage.
The Minneota wrestling team hosts a triangular on Thursday with Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove and Red Rock Central in its season opener beginning at 5 p.m.
On Friday, Jan., 15, the wrestling team will participate in another triangular at KMS High School in Kerkhoven, competing against Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg and Fulda/Murray County Central. That triangular also begins at 5 p.m.
Also on Friday, the Minneota girls basketball teams opens the season at home with a Camden Conferenece game against MACCRAY beginning at 7 p.m.
The Minneota boys basketball teams opens its season on Saturday, Jan. 16 at home with a Camden Conference rivalry against Dawson-Boyd at 7 p.m.
The girls hit the road on Monday, Jan. 18 for another Camden Conference contest against Renville Sacred Heart.
And the boys travel to Kerkhoven on Tuesday, Jan. 19 for a Camden Conference game with Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.
