Vultures' streak halted by Monte

Minneota's three-game win streak was suddenly stopped as Montevideo rapped 13 hits en route to a 16-2 rout of the Vultures Monday night at K.P. Kompelien Field in Minneota.
"Our pitchers were not as sharp tonight," said coach J.D. Pesch. "We didn't get that first-pitch strike on batters and ended up pitching from behind to a batter's count. This, plus Montevideo was a good hitting team."
Montevideo invoked the 10-run rule after five innings, scoring five times in the fourth inning and eight more in the fifth.
Ryan Dalager started for the Vultures and took the loss, hurling 3 2/3 innings. Parker Bradley finished.
"We also had a lot of mental errors defensively, as well as not executing bunts," said Pesch.
Carson Javers had two of Minneota's seven hits. Javers and Isaac Pohlen each had run-scoring singles. Adam Dalager had a double, while Ryan Dalager, Brody Larson and Jack Lacek had the other hits.

Keaton Jurrens and Brody Larson combined on a four-hitter as the Vultures won their third straight game.
"Our pitching continues to be consistent," said Vultures coach J.D. Pesch.
Jurrens made his first start of the season and tossed four strong innings for the win. He allowed two hits and no runs, while walking two and striking out five. Larson notched the save with three solid innings of relief, giving up one run on two hits. He walked two and struck out six.
"Keaton pitched some on JV this spring, but this was his first start for us," Pesch noted. "We are looking for Keaton to be a starter or long reliever to fill some innings."
All the scoring for the Vultures came in the first two innings. In the first inning, Ryan Dalager walked, stole second, advanced to third on Brody Larson's groundout, and scored on a groundout by Isaac Pohlen.
In the second inning, Eli Gruenes singled with one out and scored on Parker Bradley's triple. Bradley scored on a groundout by Joey Lacek.
The Vultures (4-1) will begin a stretch of seven games in seven days this week.
"All of our pitchers will get a lot of work and will be needed," said Pesch.
