Minneota cashed 17 of 25 free throws in the game and went on to hold off Canby 76-73 in a Camden Conference game Monday night at home. Canby made only 4 of 12 from the charity stripe.
Minneota, which beat the Lancers in a previous meeting 17 days earlier in Canby, notched its fifth straight win to improve to 8-5.
The Vikings also got balanced scoring in this contest. Jacob Hennen had a double-double with game-highs of 25 points and 18 rebounds to go along with six assists and thee steals. Jacob Citterman had 24 points, AJ Josephson also notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Cale Sorensen chipped in with 11 points. Max Rost had the other two points, as well as five steals and four assists.
Minneota built a 42-31 halftime lead and then hung on based on its free-throw shooting down the stretch as Canby hit six of its nine 3-pointers in the second half.
Trevor Gray paced the Lancers with 20 points, while Will Varcoe had 15 points and 14 rebounds. Ty Stoks added 12 points and Evan Weber 10.
