Vikings turn back Kasson-Mantorville

Class A top-ranked Minneota hit the road for a three-hour trip to take on Class AA No. 5-rated Kasson-Mantorville on Monday night and came away with an impressive 25-16, 25-18, 22-25, 25-15 victory.
The Vikings improved to 12-0. It was the first time all season that an opponent won a set, but the victory showcased Minneota's strength among state teams in all classes.
Abby Hennen had 17 kills and Natalie Rolbiecki 16 to pace the Vikings.
McKenna Yost finished with 25 set assists, 16 digs, two ace blocks, a kill and an ace serve in a solid all-around effort.
The Vikings took the first set behind Hennen's eight kills. Rolbiecki and Abby Frie had four kills each in the second set.
After Kasson-Mantorville became the first team to win a set and also the first team to score over 20 points in a set all season, the Vikings closed out the match by winning the fourth set behind Rolbieck's seven kills.
Ireland Stassen had three of Minneota's six ace serves against Kasson-Mantorville. She also notched 10 assists, 11 digs and two kills. Hennen also had a team-high 21 digs. Frie and Abby Rost led with three ace blocks apiece.
Minneota concludes its regular season with away matches against Stewartville on Friday, Nov. 27 and Saturday, Nov. 28 at Waterville-Elysian-Morristown.
