Vikings ousted in 3AA by Windom

Minneota/Canby lost a heartbreaker to Windom, 3-2, in the Section 3AA quarterfinals Tuesday in Luverne.
Tied 1-1, Windom plated the eventual winning run in the bottom of the fifth on an error.
Madison Hennen pitched a stellar game against the No. 4-seeded Eagles, allowing just one earned over six innings. She scattered eight hits while walking one and striking out one.
The Vikings, the No. 5 seed, opened the scoring against Windom hurler Jena Veenker with a run in the second inning when Dakota Pesch rapped a run-scoring double that scored AshleeAnn Cole, who also reached on a double. The was all the scoring the Vikings (12-9) would get off Veenker, who walked none and struck out 12.
The Vikings collected eight hits against Veenker. Cole and Summer Hennen had two hits each. Pesch, Faith Myhre, Ava Larson and Kiersyn Hulzebos had one hit each.
Veenker went 2-for-2 for Windom. KJ Huska also had two hits.

GAME ONE
Ava Larson belted a three-run home run in the third inning while also earning the win in the circle.
Larson pitched the first 5 2/3 innings, allowing eight hits and two runs. Madison Hennen came in and pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief, striking outs two, to earn the save.
Minneota/Canby (10-5) had 12 hits off losing pitcher Jenna Weir, who walked one and struck out eight.
Summer Hennen and Dakota Pesch each went 3-for-3 to account for half of the team's total hits. Faith Myhre had two hits, while Larson, Lexi Sanow, AshleeAnn Cole and Kenadi Arndt had one hit each.
Myhre and Sanow singled in the third inning and each scored on Larson's home run.

GAME TWO
After earning the save in the first game, Madison Hennen pitched a complete-game win in the finale. She walked one and struck out five.
The Vikings (11-5), who chalked up 12 hits to complete the sweep over the Sting, plated four runs in the opening inning and never trailed.
Faith Myhre went 3-for-4, while Summer Hennen, Dakota Pesch, AshleeAnn Cole, Kiersyn Hulzebos and Zahndra Bordewyk had two hits each. Lexi Sanow and Morgan Moorse had one hit each.
Bayli Sneller took the loss for YME despite striking out 10 batters.
