Vikings notch win over Elkton/Lake Benton SD Invite
After losses to Central Minnesota Christian and Dawson-Boyd earlier last week, Minneota got back on the winning track with a 47-39 victory over Elkton/Lake Benton in the Colan, SD invitational on Saturday.
Minneota junior guard Ryan Dalager connected on four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 21 points.
Minneota (5-4) trailed once in the game at 1-0 and built a 22-15 halftime lead.
Elkton/Lake Benton (2-5) rallied back to cut the deficit to 25-23 before the Vikings went on a 10-2 run for a 35-25 cushion.
Sawyer DeSmet continued his rebounding prowess, collecting a game-high 11, to go along with four points. Peyton Sheik had six points and five rebounds.
Teigan Krog had 19 points for Elkton/Lake Benton.

Blackjacks thump Vikings

Brayson Boike led four Blackjack players in double figures with 19 points to go along with 11 rebounds in a rout of Minneota.
The Blackjacks (7-3) shot 46 percent from the field, while the Vikings (4-5) hit just 14 percent.
Minneota scored the first basket of the game, but things went south after that. Dawson-Boyd then scored 12 unanswered points for a 12-2 lead.
The Vikings fought back and outscored Dawson-Boyd 8-6 to whittle the deficit to 18-10, before the Blackjacks went on another 12-2 to close out the first half with a comfortable 30-13 lead.
Minneota was outscored 35-6 in the second half.
Drew Hjelmeland had 14 points, Keegon Wicht 12 and Levi Olson 10 for the Blackjacks.
Sawyer DeSmet led the Vikings with five points and 15 rebounds. Anthony Rybinski also had five points and six rebounds.

Central Minnesota Christian held Minneota’s bid for an upset, topping the Vikings in overtime.
Ethan Bulthuis pumped in 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, while Ryan Harrington had 16 points and Drew Duininck had 11 points and seven rebounds.
Peyton Sheik led the Vikings (4-4) with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Max Rost had 13 points and six assists, Anthony Rybinski had 11 points and eight rebounds, and Ryan Dalager finished with eight points, six rebounds and six assists.
The Bluejays built an 11-point lead at 24-13 late in the first half before the Vikings came roaring back on a 10-2 run to close within 26-23 at haltime. Minneota also hit the first basket of the second half to make it 26-25.
CMCS again increased its lead to eight points at 39-31. Again, the Vikings rallied back and took a 42-41 lead.
In overtime, CMCS led 54-51 before MInneota eventually tied it on three free throws. CMCS then went on to win the game.
The Vikings shot only 31 percent from the field.
