Vikings lose heartbreaker to LQPV in 3A-North, 60-59
Maverick Conn scored on a layup with eight seconds left in the game and Lac qui Parle Valley hung on to defeat Minneota 60-59 in the Section 3A-North semifinals Saturday in Madison.
The top-seeded Eagles (17-3) now face No. 2 Central Minnesota Christian in the finals on Tuesday.
After Conn's basket, Minneota's Jacob Hennen, who poured in a game-high 38 points, was unable to sink a final shot just inside the arc with two seconds remaining. Hennen made five 3-pointers in the game.
Jacob Citterman had 10 points for the Vikings, who led 30-27 at halftime. Max Rost finished with five points, AJ Josephson four and Cale Sorensen two.
Minneota, which entered the playoffs as the No. 4 seed, finished the season 12-7. This was the second time this season that the Vikings lost a down-to-the-wire game to LQPV, falling 68-66 on Jan. 22.
Maverick Conn finished with 24 points for the Eagles. Hunter Conn added 10 points and Evan Hegland nine.
