Vikings' late rally falls short against LQPV
Trailing by 11 points midway through the second half, a ferocious Minneota rally fell just short in a 68-66 loss to Lac qui Parle Valley on Friday night.
Jacob Hennen tossed in a game-high 27 points for the Vikings (2-1), hitting 9 of 18 shots, including 6 of 11 from three-point range. Hennen also had six rebounds and two steals.
AJ Josephson scored 14 points to go along with six rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots. Joey Rybinski netted seven points and Bishop Drietz sank a pair of three-pointers for six points.
Minneota junior Cale Sorensen missed the game after rolling his ankle in practice last week.
The Vikings fell behind 33-25 at halftime and then found themselves trailing 52-41 midway through the second half before going on a 21-12 run to whittle the deficit to 64-62. But LQPV did not give up the lead and closed out the game.
Maverick Conn, who went over the 1,000-point mark two nights earlier against Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, paced the Eagles with 23 points. Hunter Conn added 14 points and Evan Hegland had 10.
Both teams shot well from the field; Minneota at 46.2 percent and LQPV at 45.8 percent.
