Vikings hold off LQPV, 58-52

In a tight-fisted battle throughout, Minneota outlasted Lac qui Parle Valley 58-52 in a Camden Conference showdown Tuesday night in Minneota.
The Eagles (11-4) played only six players, which eventually caught up with them against the Vikings' pressure defense.
Ireland Stassen posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Vikings (15-2). Natalee Rolbiecki had 10 points, McKenna Yost nine, Jeren Rost seven, McKenzie Tolk six, Grace Hennen four, Kennedi Jurrens three, and Kenadi Arndt and Faith Myhre two apiece.
Taylor Shelstad hit three 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 19 points for the Eagles. Camryn Lee had 18 points, all in the paint as the Vikings had difficulty stopping her inside once she got the ball.
Minneota bolted to a 7-2 lead but couldn't shake the Eagles off in the first half, leading just 27-25 at halftime.
The Eagles took their only lead of the game to start the second half when Shelstad knocked down a three-pointers for a 28-27 advantage.
Rolbiecki and McKenna Yost then drained consecutive triples to give Minneota a 33-28 lead. The Vikings led by as many as 11 points at 54-43. LQPV staged one late rally but would get no closer than the final margin.

Goodhue 66, Minneota 56

Elisabeth Gadient and Anika Schafer combined for 50 points as Goodhue defeated Minneota 66-56 in a battle of highly-ranked teams Saturday at Kasson-Mantorville High School.
Goodhue (13-2) is ranked No. 1 in Class AA, while Minneota (14-2) is rated No. 5 in Class A.
The teams exchanged hands several times to start the game before the Warriors took a 9-8 lead and never trailed again as they shot a robust 60 percent from the field, including 56 percent (9 of 16) from three-point range. Schafer connected on four treys and Gadients had three.
Schafer and Gadient combined to make 18 of 27 shots from the field and 7 of 10 free throws.
Natalee Rolbiecki had a hot hand for the Vikings, hitting 7 of 11 shots from the floor and 4-of-4 free throws for a team-high 19 points. But the senior missed over half of the first half with foul trouble when Goodhue built a 35-23 halftime lead.
Minneota outscored Goodhue 33-31 in the second half. The Vikings cut the 12-point deficit to four after Yost hit a three-pointer and McKenzie Tolk scored on a transition layup to make it 45-41 with 12:12 remaining in the game.
Goodhue then regained control and went on an 11-0 run for a 56-41 lead.
Ireland Stassen had 15 points and a team-high seven rebounds for the Vikings. McKenna Yost finished with 11 points.

The Vikings utilized a pair of 11-0 runs in the first half en route to pouring in 45 points and went on to improve to 14-1 this season.
Minneota shot 43 percent from the field and 68 percent from the free-throw line, while the Fighting Saints sank 28 percent from the floor.
Natalee Rolbiecki paced the Vikings with 15 points, while McKenna Yost had 10 points, Ireland Stassen eight, Jeren Rost seven, Kenadi Arndt and McKenzie Tolk six apiece, Grace Hennen four, and Kennedi Jurrens and Morgan Moorse two each.
Minneota made 24 steals, many off its press. Yost had a team-high six steals, and Rolbiecki and Rost had five apiece.
