Vikings girl 1st; boys 2nd at Lakeview
The Canby/Minneota girls easily captured the five-team title Friday at Lakeview High School in Cottonwood.
The C/M placed second, just four points behind Lakeview.
The C/M girls, who amassed 188 points to 97.5 for runner-up Lakeview, won nine of the 15 events held (there was no 3200 event).
Braelyn Merritt won the 400 dash and 300 hurdles, while also anchoring the winning 4 x 400 relay team.
Individually, Elysa Wollum was the 100 dash winner, Nohemi Diaz was first in the 100 hurdles, Claire Stoks won the 1600 run, and Aidyn Bruns was first in the high jump.
Canby/Minneota also won the 4 x 200 relay with RyAnn Hansen, Bruns, Karlie Wollum and Natalie Stoks; the 4 x 400 relay with Hansen, Stoks, Elysa Wollum and Merritt; and the 4 x 800 relay with Brynn Kockelman, Lillie Wollum, Hannah Vlaminck and Josie Frank.
The C/M boys got wins from Kolton Duis in 3200 run, Trevor Gray in the high jump, Blake Giese in the pole vault, and the 4 x 800 relay team of Giese, Zach Ourada, Duis and Blake Stoks.
