Vikings get chance at threepeat

Sweep W-H-A in semis; to face top-seeded Mayer Lutheran in final

Minneota moved into the Class A championship with a convincing 25-18, 25-21, 25-14 triumph over Walker-Hackensack-Akeley in the semifinals on Friday at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Natalee Rolbiecki, one of four Minneota players chosen to the Class A All-State team, led all players with 21 kills. Abby Frie added 11 kills and Ireland Stassen 10.

Minneota, the No. 2 seed, will now face top-seeded Mayer Lutheran, a team the Vikings lost to earlier this season, for the state championship. The Vikings won the last two state titles in 2018 and 2019. There was no state tournament last year due to the pandemic.

Walker-Hackensack-Akeley, entered the tournament unseeded but knocked off No. 3 Legacy Christian in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
