Vikings fall to TMB in heartbreaker
Noah Swenhaugen scored with :02 left in the game and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton nipped Minneota 66-64 to halt the Vikings' seven-game winning streak Monday night in Minneota.
The loss spoiled a monster game by Jacob Hennen, who finished with 35 points and 22 rebounds for Minneota (10-6).
The game see-sawed back and forth all night with eight lead changes in all.
Minneota rallied from a 31-22 halftime deficit and eventually took a 45-41 lead following an 8-0 run with 8:24 remaining in the game.
The Vikings increased their lead to 58-49 with 3:30 left on the clock were seemingly in control. But the Panthers went on a 10-1 run to knot the game 59-59 with 1:55 remaining.
Minneota used another 5-0 run for a 65-59 advantage with 39 seconds left. TMB then drained a three-pointer and then Trevor Smith hit a game-tying basket 10 seconds later before the Panthers clinched it on Swenhaugen's basket.
Bishop Drietz scored nine points for Minneota, all on three-pointers. Jacob Citterman had eight points, Max Rost seven, AJ Josephson four and Cale Sorensen one.
Tony Nelson had 21 points for the Panthers. Swenhaugen finished with 15 points, Smith 11 and Jake Turner 10.
