Vikings drub KMS on Senior Night
In a precursor to the post-season, Minneota rolled past Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 79-37 on Senior Night Saturday afternoon.
The Vikings (18-0) enter the Section 3A-North playoffs on Tuesday as the top seed (see separate game story).
Seniors Abby Hennen and Abby Rost were honored before the game.
This was the third game in as many nights for the Vikings as they concluded the regular season.
" I think it was a little difficult playing three games in a row," said coach Chad Johnston. "We did play extremely well on Saturday and fatigue did not seem to be a factor like I thought it would. I thought we looked tired in (Friday's) TMB game, but they are a quick team."
Four players reached double figures for the Vikings. Abby Hennen led with 22 points, while Natalee Rolbiecki had 21 points, McKenna Yost 12 and Abby Rost 10. Hennen also led with four assists and five steals.
After rough shooting nights in the first two games of the three consecutive nights, the Vikings shot much better against the Fighting Saints. Hennen made 7 pf 14 shots and Rolbiecki sank 9 of her 11 attempts.
The Vikings outrebounded KMS 31-20 with Abby Rost leading the way with eight boards while also making five steals.
Minneota turned the ball over only six times in the game.
