Viking girls blast Blackjacks
Minneota won its eighth game of the season Thursday night, securing a 3-0 victory at Homecoming over the Dawson-Boyd Blackjacks.
Minneota won easily, 25-10; 25-7; 25-11.
It was a good tuneup for the Midwest Volleyball Warehouse Tournament in Burnsville this weekend. They also will host Canby Tuesday night. The Lancers are undefeated.
Minneota got 13 kills from Lydia Sussner along with two blocks and seven kills from Jennifer Krog.
But it wasn't much of an offensive firework show since the Blackjacks, who haven't won since early in the season, simply were unable to answer Minneota's challenge.
Abby Hennen led the team in digs with 10 and the Libero's sister Morgan Hennen had five.
In the second game, Morgan Hennen served the first 14 points before Dawson-Boyd got a kill from Mary Bothum to break the string. In the third game Morgan Hennen served nine straight to vault Minneota into a 10-1 lead that the Vikings propelled into a 25-11 win.
At Burnsville Saturday, Minneota will play two northern teams: Cook County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and Kittson County Central at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, they start with a 10 a.m. meeting with Mabel-Canton.
