Trap shoot team does well at state
Rain played tricks on most everything this spring sports season, but Trap Shoot Coach Kent Williams said, “We did get all five weeks of competition in.”
His team shot at the state meet in Alexandria Tuesday.

The regular season
The team was led during the regular season by Hannah Brewers with an average of 21.8 hits per round out of 25 targets. “That put her at seventh out of 172 shooters in our conference. A very impressive year,” said Coach Williams.
In addition to Brewers — Shawn Buysse, Ryan Vlamick, Garet DeBoer, Brenden Kimpe, and Hudson Scholten all received a varsity standing for having an average of 19 or above during the year.
Buysse was just under Brewers mark with a 21.3 average while both Vlaminck and DeBoer average 20.9 and 20.7 targets hit out of every 25.
Kimpe and Scholten were very close to 20 targets in each round.
Before the state meet, Williams said, “We needed five or more at the varsity level to compete in Alexandria and this has been a major improvement.”
During the fifth and final week of competition, Vlaminck knocked down 47 of 50 targets he shot at — an outstanding mark on any team.
Brewers and DeBoer made good on 44 of 50 targets with Brenden Kimpe hitting 43 and Buysse 40 of the 50.
During a meet at the end of the year, Garet Deboer hit a perfect 25 of 25.
Vlaminck’s 47 tied the best all year among Minneota shooters. Brewers had a 47 total during the second week of competition.
Other top conference finishers for Minneota included Buysse in 15th; Vlaminck in 19th; DeBoer and Kimpe tied for 23rd place out of 172 shooters.
