Track girls fifth at True Team tourney
The Canby-Minneota girls track team finished in fifth place at the True Team State Tournament in Stillwater on Saturday.
"They've had a good tournament and performed so well," said Canby-Minneota Coach Sara Hemish.
Maple Lake won the meet with 523 points with Canby-Minneota in fifth at 458.
"We got some good performances today," the coach added.

Norah King of Canby-Minneota won the discus throw at 123-08. She finished fifth in the shotput at 35-5.
Lizzy Gillingham's long jump of 16-6 3/4 gave her third place in the state finals.
Grace Drietz ran to second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:22.5 — just in back of winner Katherine Geist of Crookston in 5:14.17. She was third in the 800-meter (half mile) run at 2:27.52, just four seconds off the winning pace.
The Canby-Minneota 4x400-meter relay team finished in second place behind Minnewaska Area with a 4:19.95 while Minnewaska edged them with a 4:19.78.
Faith Traen and McKenzie Ruether came in eighth and ninth in the 3200-meter run.
