Timberwolves, Lynx sponsor five-state basketball playoffs

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx are sponsoring the five-state Pacesetter Playoffs, which will feature state playoffs for boys’ and girls’ youth basketball teams in grades four to nine in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa to conclude on the main Target Center floor in Minneapolis.

Every player will receive a free ticket offer for a Timberwolves game for the 2018-2019 season, and all teams that qualify for the Great Five-State finals at the Target Center will attend a Lynx regular season game in conjunction with the Great State tournament.

All teams are guaranteed three-to-four games in their qualifying tournament. State finals will be held in Maple Grove (Minnesota), Ripon (Wisconsin), Jamestown (North Dakota), Yankton and Sioux Falls (South Dakota) and Des Moines (Iowa).

Top teams in each state will then advance to Minneapolis for the eight-team Pacesetter Great Five-State Championships for each grade level.

The Minneota Sixth Grade boys’ basketball team will play in the Pacesetter Region 3 basketball tournament at the Redwood Area Community Center in Redwood Falls on Saturday, March 24.

All teams in the tournament will play three-four games in one day. The Region 3 champions will be invited to play in the Minnesota Youth Basketball State Championships in Maple Grove in June.

The top two teams from the state tournament advance to the Target Center in Minneapolis to play in the Pacesetter Great Five-State Championships against the top teams from Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Teams with only one loss in the regional tournament will qualify for the MIT (MN Invitational Tournament), also in Maple Grove in June.

Over 1,000 teams will play in the Pacesetter Sports five-state youth basketball playoff system.

These games promote school and community teams, and is sponsored by the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx.

Registration for the regional tournaments is available to all Minnesota schools or community-based youth teams in grades 4-9.
