Throwing exercises

Cutting down on errors

Coaches have a tendency to analyze their team, over and over again, looking for places to improve the team.

Minneota Coach Keven Larson found such an improvement area, in a most common place.

“The big emphasis will be on throwing. We want to throw under control and cut down those throwing errors,” the coach said.

“We want to be as consistent as we can with it,” he added.

While throwing is one of the Big Three for any player ... you know, “You gotta throw the ball, you gotta catch the ball, you hit the ball.”

So it’s not exactly a secret. So on Monday, in the gym, 19 of the 21 players on the team were playing catch, tossing it back and forth.

Repetition, lots of repetition.

The other two?

They’re Landon Abraham and Josh Laleman both are injured. The coach called his players together, tried to warn them about “getting down” because they can’t get outside, then sent them back to throw some more.

“This weather. It’s depressing. How long until we get outside?” he quizzed.

Now that is the question.
