Seventh/Eighth boys win title

Minneota’s Seventh/Eighth grade Summer Recreation baseball team took first place in their league tournament in Dawson last week. They defeated a pair of teams from Granite Falls and won the championship game, 9-5.

During the tournament this team turned in five double plays. The team is coached by Drew Fadness and was assisted by Tyson Sonnenburg.

“Our defense was spot on,” said Coach Fadness.

“In the second game we came back in the seventh inning and won it,” the coach said. Members of the team are: Alex DePestel, Stan Siekman, Peyton Gillund, Jack Lacek, Ryan Dalager, Peyton Sheik, Joe Voit, Keaton Jurrens, Sawyer DeSmet and Hayden Gleich. The summer recreation league has concluded play for this season.

The Minneota teams play teams from other communities and had a good record in all their tournaments.

“It was really fun to win this tournament, especially the way we came back. We took the kids out to celebrate the victory,” said Coach Fadness.
