Mudhens stay hot; win streak nine

The weather was hot and so are the Minneota Mudhens.
Alex Pohlen belted a two-run homer and the Mudhens extended their winning streak to nine straight games, edging Clinton 7-6 Sunday at K.P. Kompelien Field in Minneota.
Danny Hennen started and worked the first 7 2/3 innings for the win. He walked three and struck out seven. After hitting consecutive batters, Hennen was relieved by AJ Myhre, who recorded the final out of the eighth. Ryan Dalager pitched a hitless ninth inning for the save. He struck out two of three batters he faced.
Clinton played a pair of runs in the top of the first inning before the Mudhens matched it in the home half of the inning when Austin DeVlaeminck led off with a double and Pohlen homered.
The Mudhens (6-0, 9-1) took the lead for good with a pair of runs in the third inning on five straight singles, including RBI singles from Ben Skorczewski and Peyton Gillund.
Austin Buysse had run-scoring singles in the fourth and sixth innings. Brock Buysse drove in a run with a single in the seventh.
The Mudhens amassed 15 hits. Brock Buysse had three hits, including a pair of doubles. Austin Buysse also had three hits. Pohlen, Myhre, Gillund and Tyson Sonnenburg had two hits apiece.

Tate Walerius homered and six players had two hits each as the red-hot Mudhens won their eighth straight game.
Jake Hennen went the distance on the mound for Minneota (5-0 in league and 8-1 overall), scattering 10 hits. He walked four and struck out six.
"Jake had a great outing," said Mudhens player/manager Tyson Sonnenburg. "He was getting up in every count and kept hitters off balance by mixing his pitched. He has done a great job of stepping up and being another arm we can rely on to go deep into games."
Walerius homered leading off the fifth inning. He also drove in another run with a single in the eighth inning.
Austin Buysse had a run-scoring single in the third inning and drove in another run with a double in the fifth inning.
Walerius, Ben Skorczewski, Austin Buysse, Sonnenburg, Peyton Gillund and Brock Buysse had two each for the Mudhens, who played error-free for the third straight game.
"Defensively, we played really solid and had timely hits with runners on base," Sonnenburg said.
