Minneota routs Renville County West, 74-16
Minneota limited Renville County West to only nine points in the first half and went on for a lopsided 74-16 victory in a Camden Conference game Monday night in Renville.
Minneota's suffocating defense amassed 24 steals for the game.
Abby Hennen, who has over 1,600 points for her career, paced the Vikings with 20 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
"It was another good night where I am seeing a lot of good things from the team," said coach Chad Johnston. "We faced another zone tonight and I like the movement that I saw on offense."
Nine players broke into the scoring column for the Vikings (2-0). Natalee Rolbiecki added 16 points, seven rebounds and five steals.
"We could look to the ball inside even more," said Johnston. "But we did a nice job of getting the ball inside whether it was off the pass or on dribble penetration. We had good 'kick-outs' for wide open looks on the perimeter. We also did a great job in transition."
Abby Rost finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists and five steals for Minneota. Grace Hennen chipped in seven points, Jeren Rost six, McKenzie Tolk five, Ireland Stassen four, and Kennedi Jurrens and McKenna Yost two apiece.
"Defensively, we gave up some height to their post players, but I was very happy with the way we played defense on them and how we boxed out," Johnston noted.
Hannah Pharr, a 6-2 junior post, led RCW with 11 points. Only three players scored for the Jaguars.
