Minneota falls in OT thriller
Lac qui Parle Valley scored the first nine points in overtime and went on to defeat Minneota 82-76 in an exciting Camden Conference game Monday night. Minneota led 73-70 with six seconds left in regulation when Kaiden Allpress drained a shot from beyond the three-point line to knot the game.
Minneota turned the ball over with 1.2 seconds left and the game went into overtime. Austin Bonn then score seven of the Eagles’ points in overtime and finished with a team-high 27 points.
Logan Sussner had another stellar game with a game-high 28 points and 22 rebounds. Nolan Boerboom had an outstanding second half, hitting five of his six 3-pointers, and finished with 20 points. Cale Sorensen added nine, Alex Saltzer seven, Joseph Rybinski five, Jacob Citterman four and Riley Buysse three.
Trailing 66-62 in regulation, Minneota fought back as Sorensen scored the next four points on a field goal and two free throws to tie the game 66-66 with 2:15 remaining. Tied again at 68-68, Boerboom hit his sixth three-pointer of the game to give the Vikings a 71-68 advantage with :30 remaining.
The Eagles closed within 71-70 before Saltzer cashed a pair of free throws with :14 to go to give Minneota a 73-70 lead. Allpress then hit his three-pointer to send it into overtime and the Eagles took over from there. Conn had 22 points and Allpress 13 for LQPV, which shot 51 percent from the field.
