MCC and Gehl edges Canby-Minneota and Drietz

A double whammy hit the Canby-Minneota girls' cross country team Thursday at Tracy.

Murray County Central beat the C-M squad, 39-91 and their top runner, Morgan Gehl, continued to have the hot hand against Canby/Minneota's best, Grace Drietz.

Gehl, who bested Drietz all of last year, won with a time of 19:13.5 with Drietz in second place at 19:47.3.

Canby/Minneota Coach Allyson Pesek was positive, but realistic. "It was a big meet and good to see our area competitors.  As a team we were pleased with our results but we also know we have work to do to get us where we want to be come October," she said.
Local runners after Drietz were: 12. Braelyn Merritt; 15. McKenzie Ruether; 43. RyAnn Hanen and 45. Aidyn Bruns.
One of their regulars, Faith Traen didn't run because she was ill and that may have affected the outcome.
