LQPV drains 14 treys in win over Vikings, 76-74

Kaden Molden sank seven of Lac qui Parle Valley's 14 three-pointers and the Eagles edged Minneota 76-74 in a fast-paced game Monday night in Minneota.
The Vikings (5-7) hit five treys of their own in the first half and led 35-29 at halftime, but Molden, a 6-4 junior who led all scorers with 27 points, connected on six three-pointers in the second half to help rally the Eagles (5-7).
Ryan Dalager led a balanced scoring attack for Minneota with 17 points. Max Rost had 15 points, Peyton Sheik 13, Sawyer DeSmet 12, Anthony Rybinski seven, Lucas Rybinski six and Lincoln Jerzak four.
Minneota's biggest lead came late in the first half when Dalager dropped in a three-pointers with 27 seconds left to make it 35-27.
The first five baskets scored by the Eagles to start the second half were from beyond the arc and the 15-5 run gave the Eagles a 44-40 lead.
The Vikings then went on a 9-0 to lead 49-44. DeSmet scored consecutive baskets to start the run, Dalager hit a 12-foot jumper and Max Rost drained a triple. From there, the teams exchanged leads nine times.
The Vikings led 71-67 with just over three minutes left when Molden hit his final three-pointer and TJ Mitchell scored on a drive to give the Eagles a 72-71 lead.
Trailing 75-72 with five seconds remaining, Dalager was fouled on a three-point attempt. The junior calmly sank the first two free throws, but the third went in-and-out and the Eagles held on for the win.
David Patzer had 17 points for the Eagles. Matt Arndt added 11 points and Mitchell had 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Saints pull away in 2nd half

Despite a height disadvantage, dismal free-throw shooting and having two starters in early foul trouble, Minneota (5-6) was able to stay the Fighting Saints (11-2) for most of the game.
The Vikings connected on six triples in the first half, three from Ryan Dalager, en route to a 28-26 halftime lead. But they were only able to manage one three-pointer in the second half.
The Vikings took their first lead, 7-5, on a three-pointer by Peyton Sheik, fell behind 8-7, then regained the lead on a trey by Dalager. KMS knotted the game 10-10 and Anthony Rybinski splashed a trey to give Minneota a 13-10.
Again, KMS tied the game, 15-15, before Dalager drained another three for an 18-15 advantage.
The Fighting Saints then went on 10-0 run to grab a 25-18 lead with 2:35 remaining in the first half. The Vikings countered with a 7-0 run when Max Rost scored on a drive to the hoop, Sheik hit another three-pointer and then Sheik scored on a goaltend violation by 6-foot-7 DeAndre Holloway.
KMS regained the lead on a free throw by Hunter Kallstrom, who led all scorers with 21 points to go along with 21 rebounds. Dalager then hit a triple to give the Vikings the 28-25 halftime lead.
The Vikings were 0-for-4 at the free-throw line in the first half, while KMS hit 7-of-15.
Sheik and Anthony Rybinski were both whistled for their fourth foul two minutes into the second half and were relegated to the bench until 7:30 left in the game. Sawyer DeSmet picked up his fourth foul with 6:50 remaining.
KMS outscored Minneota 30-15 over the second half. The Vikings finished just 4-of-13 at the charity stripe. KMS was 14-of-27.
Malaki Lee scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half for KMS. Holloway finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Sheik led Minneota with 13 points and eight rebounds. Dalager finished with 11 points, six rebounds and six assists. Rost had seven points, Lucas Rybinski five, DeSmet four and Anthony Rybinski three.
