Former Minneota and SMSU setter Megan Larson is an assistant coach for Belle Plaine, which took 3rd place in Class 2A on Saturday.

Larson helps coach Belle Plaine

Former Minneota setter, all-stater and all-tourney pick Megan Larson is now coaching at Belle Plaine, She guided the SMSU program as setter for four years, then moved on to help coach at Jordan.

Recently, she decided to go back to school to get a nursing degree so she left Jordan. But it wasn’t long and Belle Plaine heard about her when they had an opening on their volleyball coaching staff.

Larson helped coach the Belle Plaine squad to a third place finish in the state tournament last weekend.

Belle Plaine beat Marshall in the first round, 3-1, then lost to North Branch, 3-2. In the third place match, Belle Plaine defeated Concordia Academy3-2, winning 15-9 in the fifth set to take home a third place trophy.

Larson helped her Minneota teams to several high finishes at state and returned this year as a coach.
