It didn't go well for Minneota-Canby, losing to JCC. But Lexi Sanow had three hits, including a triple and was congratulated by Coach Heidi Boerboom when she reached third.

Homer gals sink Minneota-Canby

Minneota-Canby gave it the old “college try,” but there was just too much long ball by Jackson County Central and the Vikings season ended, 11-5 in the Section 3AA consolation finals.
Heidi Boerboom’s girls had a 3-2 lead after four innings with Sydney Larson on the mound holding back the Huskies.
But Jackson CC’s Keylee Rossow drove Larson’s first pitch over the fence for a two-run home run in the fourth. Then in the sixth, Abagail Turner turnedon another Larson pitch and slammed a three-run home run during a four-run rally.
The game was tied at three with Jackson County Central batting in the bottom of the fifth when Blaney Johnson singled on the first pitch and later score.
The Vikings got things moving in the first inning when Larson singled on a 0-1 count, scoring Abby Hennen.
They rode the 1-0 lead until they could score two more in the top of the fourth. The rally started on singles by Abby Rangaard and Lexi Sanow. Rangaard scored on a wild pitch and Sanow came home on Abby Hennen’s grounder. It was 3-0 — but it was a short-lived lead.
Jackson County Central answered with Rossow’s home run — they scored five in the fifth and were led by Turner’s blast in the sixth to put the game away.
Ashely Heinnchs earned the victory on the rubber for Jackson County Central. She lasted seven innings, allowing nine hits and five runs while striking out five.
Larson took the loss for Minneota-Canby, surrendering 11 runs on nine hits over six innings. She struck out two and walked four.
Minneota-Canby racked up nine hits on the day. Lexi Sanow had three hits and Abby Hennen two.
Jackson County Central collected nine hits on the day. Johnson and Mady Hamlett each went 2-4. And, of-course, there were those two home runs.
