Kya Oakes singled home the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth and Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg held on a 10-9 come-from-behind victory over Minneota/Canby Tuesday in Minneota.
Minneota/Canby (7-8), who got hits from seven different players, took a 6-3 lead after three innings and still led 9-6 entering the sixth inning, The Fighting Saints then plated three runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game.
Oakes and Avery Joyce were each 3-for-5 with three RBI for KMS. Maddy Anderson, the second of three KMS pitchers, earned the win. Taylor VanHeuveln recorded the final out for the save.
Faith Myhre was 2-for-4, walked twice and scored three times for the Vikings. Kiersyn Hulzebos drove in two runs. Hulzebos, Joelle Otto, AshleeAnn Cole Frazeur, Kenadi Arndt and Tessah Anhalt has one hit apiece.
Otto hurled the first four innings for the Vikings. DeSmet pitched the final four frames and was tagged with the loss. The two pitchers combined for six strikeouts.
