Minneota native Shane Hennen has been named coordinator of the Sanford POWER Basketball Academy at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls. Hennen, a native of Minneota, holds multiple career records at Minneota High School including career points (1,576), points in a season (779) and points in a game (46). He played basketball for four years at Morningside College and was part of two NAIA DII National Tournament teams.

He has been a coach and trainer since 2015 with Hennen Workouts and the Bartlett Basketball Academy, holding skill camps across the Midwest and working with some of the best players in South Dakota.

“Shane is a dynamic coach who has played the game at a high level, and we’re extremely impressed with his basketball knowledge and the way he interacts with athletes, coaches and parents,” said Kevin Lampe, president of Sanford Sports.

“Shane is an outstanding addition to the Sanford POWER Basketball Academy, and I’m confident he is the right person to take the best academy in the region to the next level.”

The Sanford POWER Basketball Academy is a comprehensive player development program with a wide variety of basketball development options.

From private workouts to team management and everything in between, the professional staff is knowledgeable, energetic, and creates a positive environment for players of all ages and skill levels to develop, learn and enjoy the game of basketball.

“For a basketball coach, this is the premier job in the region, and I can’t wait to get started,” said Hennen.

“The facilities at the Sanford Pentagon are second to none, and it is the ideal place to learn and grow as a basketball player and teammate.”

Former NBA guard and All-American at Kansas, Kirk Hinrich, serves as the lead academy specialist. The academy is also supported by more than a dozen coaches and is active in adding the best local and regional basketball coaches available.
